Here’s a few tips to keep your indoor water feature clean.

Use distilled water 

Regular water has minerals and impurities that can accumulate in the water tray or on the fountain surface and hence, it is advised to use distilled water for your water feature at all times. Distilled water is free from minerals and impurities that regular water may have. Water can be easily distilled using a water distiller. Water distiller is easy to use. just add tap water to the top and four hours later you have a gallon of distilled water

Prevent algae growth

Regular cleaning of the fountain and changing the water is all you need to prevent any algae growth. Just add 1-2 drops of bleach at interval of every 15 days to the water in the tray. Please keep in mind that you will need only 1-2 drop of bleach. Any amount more than this may result in the bleaching of the stone surface affecting its color and leave an unpleasant smell of bleach.

Clean the fountain surface at regular intervals

The adagio water features offer a wide variety of natural stones such as Marble, Slate, Travertine or even Glass and Mirror as the surface of the Water feature. It is crucial to clean the surface of your wall fountain or floor fountain as and when needed.

For glass and mirror surface: You can use a standard glass cleaner to clean the surface of the fountain. Sometimes, there are any mineral deposits on the mirror or glass surface. In that case, you can use a solution comprising 50-50 mixture of glass cleaner and vinegar. Make sure to rinse the excess solution off the glass or mirror, once you are done cleaning. Also, we do not recommend Windex/vinegar solution for cleaning the logo or inscriptions etched on the surface.

For Stone surface: Fountain having natural stones such as slate, marble, Travertine or Featherstone as surface can be cleaned with a product like CLR using a stiff nylon brush. Do not forget to rinse the cleaning product off the stone surface after cleaning. Do not use the brush on the logo/engravings.

Clean the tray each time after cleaning the surface

It is natural that all the gunk and dirt after cleaning the stone/ Glass or mirror surface will accumulate in the tray. We recommend cleaning and rinsing the tray to remove any dirt, debris or excess solution that is used to clean the surface in order to prevent blockage. You are required to empty the water in the tray with the help of a vacuum. A cup and a bucket will also do just fine to do that. After the tray is emptied of its contents, wipe the tray with a clean cloth.

Similarly, you can wipe the hood of the fountain. The tray and hood are constructed of metal. You are required to use a no abrasive cleaner to avoid the metal scratching. Reassemble the tray, fill it with distilled water and you are good to go.!
