Do you dream of having the best pool in your neighborhood? You can make that dream a reality without spending a fortune. Here are some tips to help you get started.
Pool ownership has many benefits, not the least of which is increasing your home's value. But before you jump in and buy a pool, there are a few things to consider. For starters, how much space do you have for a pool? And what kind of climate do you live in? If you live in an area with limited summer months, it might not be worth the investment to buy a pool.
If you decide that having a pool is right for you, there are several options available to fit any budget. Have your pool professionally designed. It is nice to have an idea of different layouts, ideas, and options. A professional designer can help you determine any potential issues that may arise from your plans. They will also be able to give you a more accurate estimate of the cost of construction. You may also want to consider having your swimming pool built by a local company in your area if possible, which can save you money on shipping costs.
Put a water feature in the backyard to add some ambiance while you're lounging by the pool. Having a water feature will help to cool off the area and provide sounds of moving water, which is very relaxing. This can be as simple as a fountain or something more elaborate that includes numerous jets of water, such as a waterfall or pond with bubbling rocks. You could also install a misting system around your pool, so you have refreshing mists of water coming at you from all angles whenever you visit your pool.
Add some plants and flowers around the pool area for a more natural look. Having vibrant, healthy-looking landscaping surrounding your pool can create a relaxing atmosphere while also helping to filter out chemicals from the pool's filtered water. Some flowering plants are even fragrant, creating an extra-relaxing effect on those hot summer days.
Add a few new floating beds to relax on when you're not swimming. If you have the space for it, purchasing a swan or two can provide some fun and be a great conversation piece as well. You could also consider adding some deck chairs with really comfortable cushions to lounge around in.
If you have kids, get them involved with making their own summer bucket list - it's fun! Allow your kids to make a list of all the things they would like to do this summer with or near the pool. For example: go for a swim every day, play Marco Polo at the pool, go tubing down the river, etc. Encourage them to think of activities that may be outside of their usual routine and that will incorporate the pool in some way.
Get fire pits to cozy up on cool evenings and an above-ground hot tub, to enjoy during the winter months. Having a fire pit at your pool area can create the perfect ambiance for an evening spent outside. If space allows, consider adding an above-ground hot tub to enjoy during colder months.
