What is GPM and how to calculate GMP?
GPM stands for Gallons per minute. It’s a measurement that indicates water flow rate required for the uninterrupted waterflow. It is crucial to maintain the required GPM in order to ensure a smooth water fall through the scupper. An incorrect flow speed may affect the outpour display making it look shabby.
Formula: Length of the scupper (in inches) X 1.25
For Example, the GPM for a 20" long scupper will be:
20 x 1.25 = 25GPM
Here are some examples indicating the GPM for some standard sized scuppers.
8 x 1.25
12 x 1.25
24 x 1.25
36 x 1.25
48 x 1.25
The GPM calculation is simple. All you need to do is measure the length of your scupper. Enjoy the waterfall display created by your scupper as now you know the water flow requirements to get the scupper to work and create magic that instantly elevates the look of your pool area or to create a beautiful landscape.
