Do indoor fountains require a lot of electricity?
Most indoor fountains are energy-efficient and use very little electricity. The pumps are typically designed to run on low wattage, making them affordable to operate. You can enjoy the calming sounds of flowing water without worrying about high electricity bills.
What type of Outlet do I need for my indoor fountain and where do i place it?
Indoor Fountains are typicall designed to run off a standard outlet. We suggest avoiding a GFI protected outlet with 110V capacity if it is placed behind the feature, as it may be hard to reset if it trips. In case you have multiple panels for your water feature, you will need to place the outlet in the center of the far-left stone. The fountains by Adagio accompany a 90-degree plug, saving any trouble of recessing your outlet.
Can I leave my indoor fountain running all the time?
Yes, indoor fountains are designed to run continuously. However, it’s essential to monitor the water levels to ensure the pump remains submerged and does not burn out. While indoor fountains are crafted to operate constantly, it is crucial to diligently observe the water levels to safeguard the pump from burning out.
What do I need to install my fountain?
All fountains usually come with all the necessary tubing/hardware required to install it on a sheetrock wall. However, You may need to purchase additional screws or anchors from your local hardware store in case the fountain needs to installed on a metal studded, stone, or tile wall.
How do I position my pump in my tray?
The pump has a water outlet that needs to be directed straight up along the back of your water feature. This will improve the water flow from the top.
For larger water features, make sure to place the pump in a position that the filter screen and the edge of the pump make a “V” shape along the back of the tray, as shown in the below picture.
For smaller wall mounted water features, the pump needs to be rotated so the long portion lies flat on the bottom of the tray as the below picture shows.
For freestanding water features, the pump should be positioned with the filter parallel to the bottom tray with the hose going into the side upright as straight as possible. Here is an example picture.
In Short, spout for the water hose needs to be as close to the back as possible. The hose needs to be straight. You may trim the hose if it’s too large and is bending behind. Any bends can slow down the water flow resulting in uneven flow or dry spots.
Why is my pump making noise?
There might be a couple of reasons for a noisy pump and here are some quick solutions for that.
Improper Placement: Make sure to position your pump as mentioned above. Along with proper positioning, you need to install the pump pad on the bottom and back side of your pump. A pump pad prevents the pump from coming in direct contact from the tray as vibrations from the pump can result in the tray shaking and making a noise.
Stuck or broken Impeller: An impeller is a component of the pump located under the filter that propels the water from the pump. The impeller needs to be intact and freely spinning under the filter. A broken or a damaged impeller will be a hindrance in the functioning of the pump which may cause it make noise.
Inadequate water: Maintaining the right level of water in your fountain at all times is a must. The pump needs to be fully submerged in the water. Inadequate water may result in the pump to take in air. This can cause your pump to make louse noise and eventually burn out.
What kind of water do I need for an indoor fountain?
It is strongly recommended to use distilled water in your indoor water feature. Distilled water is free from any minerals and sediments that can harm you pump or can leave marks or residue on the fountain surface which is prone to algae growth. You can avail a water distiller. In case distilled water is not available, you may use filtered water.
How much water do I need for my water feature?
The water requirement of any of the water feature is based on the size and scale of the water feature. To make it easy, there is a fill line on the right side of the tray of all the adagio water features. The fill line is the perfect guide that helps you determine the adeqaute quantity of water required by that particular fountain. It is recommended that you refill the water after turning off the fountain. Make sure not to over fill the tray beyond the fill line as it may cause water splashing or the tray may appear to leak.
How often do I need to clean the indoor water feature?
While the use of distilled or purified water aids in diminishing mineral buildup, ensuring your indoor fountain remains pristine, free from white scale and algae-related issues. But we suggest to throughly clean your Indoor Fountain 2-3 times a year.
How to Clean an Indoor Water Feature?
- You need to start with turning the fountain off draining the water from the fountain.
- Take a soft sponge and a mild cleanser to clean the surface of the fountain of any debris, minerals or algae.
- Clean other components such as pump, other decorative items, fountain tray or basin.
- Once you are done with cleaning all the components, you can place them back in their position.
- Refill your fountain and turn it on.

How often will I need to fill my water fountain?
Recirculating water from any water features will evaporate as they act as humidifiers. You may need to fill your water feature depending upon how much time you run it, and humidity of your location. You will need to watch the water level at frequent intervals for a couple of weeks to see how quickly it evaporates. A place with hot climate may require you to refill the water more often as compared to a humid climate.
